Wind River provides a dual licensing model that offers users a choice of either an open-source license or a commercial license for the use of RTLinux technology.
Open-Source License
Open RTLinux is freely available to the open-source community to develop GPL applications. Open RTLinux is governed by the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) and the Wind River Open Patent License, which has been approved as GPL-compliant by the Free Software Foundation (FSF). Open RTLinux is provided without a warranty of any kind, per the terms outlined in the governing licenses.
Commercial License
Wind River Real-Time Core provides a commercially licensed version of RTLinux permitting closed-source distribution of real-time applications using RTLinux technology. If you are developing proprietary software based on RTLinux technology, then you must purchase Wind River Real-Time Core.
